Working on Keith Road. Charles is still out of work. In evening I do a little finishing off the Verandah of my first house. I have over a hundred cabbages planted and all doing well. Had new potatoes for over a fortnight. Flowers blooming for a month.
At work on school grounds Keith Road. Gale is still blowing out in the Gulf. Receive a letter from Mrs. Graham.
I buy furniture from Mrs. Neill for $25.00.
Off to Whyte Cliffs on P.G.E [Ry] for the day. Arrive at Horseshoe Bay, Whyte Cliff at 12.30 pm. Went diving & bathing in the Bay. Had lovely day. Sun hot but cold wind and gale blowing on the Gulf. Many boats are stranded on the beaches. High and dry. John Neat, Charles Theobald & self formed party. – Fare 50c return. Met Ferne Quirt & Miss Edith Bores at Horseshoe Bay. Home 9:20
Worked half a day at Keith Rd Schools. Left home at 3:30 pm for Vancouver. Charles opens savings account at Post Office with $35.00. I have $70.00 in Post Office Bank.
I buy a grey suit at Fashion Craft Store in Granville St for $18.00. Had supper at Leonard’s. Saw Miss Minnie Quirt at Penders café. Home at 11 pm.

* Komagata Maru –Japanese steamship filled with 376 passengers from the Punjab region of India. 352 were denied access to Canada due to exclusionary immigration laws designed to restrict the immigration people of Asian descent. The Komagata Maru was detained with most of its passengers on board when it arrived in Vancouver on May 23rd 1914, and left with the majority of them still aboard on July 23rd.
Sent photos film to Wagstaffes of Burnaby. Charles is home out of work. I write letters to Miss Myrtle Quirt. A million rounds of ammunition is smuggled into Dublin for Carson’s “army”.

To Quirt’s to fulfill promise at 3:50 pm. I cannot go to beach, feeling unwell. Return home at 5 pm. Met John Neat at Wharf & walk with him along sea front to Indian Mission.
No work. Raining hard. I work on completion of my Verandah. Write letters to Mrs. Graham, Harry & Elizabeth Draycott of Alton. Charles is laid off work.

Charles & myself eat mushrooms & were very ill afterwards.
Up at 9 am inspecting the garden. Out picking wild raspberries with Mr. A. Wagstaffe & boys & Mr. Nutt of New Westminster. Home again at 2 pm and had dinner. Invited down to Neat’s for evening dinner. All the Wagstaffe family & self. Had pleasant time & left for home at 9:30 pm arrive in Lynn Valley 11 pm.
