Friday 27 November 1914 – rough sea & showers

Writing letters
Saw a 1st Class Cruiser & several other vessels. Also Wolf Island & the Bull, Cow & Calf off the South Coast of Ireland.
Everyone regretting the ending of the voyage.
Attended a Whist Drive and got 2nd place. Score 137 the winner 138


*The Bull, Cow & Calf near the South Coast of Ireland are small rocky islands that sit just off of Dursey Island, on the southwest tip of Ireland.

Thursday 26 November 1914 – heavy sea & showers

Up at 7:30 am. Breakfast at 8 etc:
Showing picture postcards to Miss Gething, Miss Durham, Mrs Ald and Mrs Josland
Explaining the wonders of the west
Took part in a concert with Mr T. Thompson of Wetaskiwin, Alberta. Had a very nice time.

Wednesday 25 November 1914 – rain & heavy sea

Up at 7:30 am. Breakfast at 8 am.
Had conversation with Miss Gething of Wolverhampton for two hours.
Luncheon at 1 pm & afterwards played cards & visited the Barber.
Signed Document at Purser’s Office.

Tuesday 24 November 1914 – rain & [heavy seas]

Up at 7:35 am. Breakfast at 8 pm & played cards & walked deck till noon. Luncheon at 1 pm.
Singing songs in afternoon & told stories till dinner at 6:30 pm.
Attended Whist drive at 8:30 pm which ended at 11:05 pm.
To bed at 12 midnight
Miss Ginn 1st Prize
Miss Gething 3rd Prize


*Whist – A classic English card game, most popular in the 18th and 19th century. A social event (often a fund-raiser) where many different variants of Whist are played is called a “Whist Drive.”
