To St. Clements Church in evening Reverend Mr Fen preached.
To Neate’s in afternoon for tea & went to Church from the house with Mr John, Miss Kathlyn & Lily also Mr Keats.

Sunday 25 October 1914 – fine

To St. Clements Church in morning to hang flags for childrens’ day.
To Haswell’s in the afternoon & stayed for tea.
Haswell very ill – Bronchitis.
Stayed till 10:15 pm then to Church for my bunting.
Home at 11 pm
Neill called & played cards with Charles Theobald. I was away.

Friday 11 September 1914 – rain

Raining hard. Slight earthquake struck at 8:25 am

At 7:30 pm I go to the Public School Ground with Mr. Purdie. Instruct the members of Lynn Valley Home Guard in Military Drills. At 8:40 pm to St. Clements Church to attend choir. Hugh Neill called in evening.

Sunday 2 August 1914 – fine & warm

To St Clement’s in morning and evening 1st alone 2nd with John Neat.

To Neat’s for Dinner and supper. Presented to them – a new Union Jack for use on their flagpole. Introduced to Mr & Mrs Shellshear at Neats. In evening after Church – to town.  Met Mr Gus Berk – gave him letters to post for me. At 8:45 pm to Haswell’s with John Neat. Left fo’ home at 10:30 pm

Thursday 9 July1914 – very hot– very hot

Commenced work at the Keith Road. Paid Barker for groceries $22.30.

Changed cheque for $25.75 from Women’s Auxiliary of St. Clement’s Church. Letter from Mrs. Graham on board Prince Albert at Prince Rupert. Planting out cabbages.

Monday 29 June 1914

Taking prints off films for Mrs. Graham till 9 am. Then onto St Clement’s Church to do carpentry work in work in Vestry staying till 5:3 0pm. Home for supper & at 7 pm to Haswell’s. Gave photos to Mrs. Graham. Took photos of Mrs. Graham & Mrs. Haswell at supper table, also Mr. Haswell & Mr. Little after. Took photos in garden. Home at 11:15 pm
