Good news from Italy. We hold all west bank of the Piave River & capture c. 2,000 more prisoners & booty.

Sir Frederick Borden [sic ??died in 1917] inspects Forestry Draft for France.

*The Battle of the Piave River comprised the last major Austro-Hungarian attack on the Italian Front and virtually heralded the disintegration of the Austro-Hungarian army on the way to the dismantling of the empire. (http://www.firstworldwar.com/battles/piaveriver.htm)

General Turner VC inspects Canadian Forestry Draft for France.

*Lieutenant General Sir Richard Ernest William Turner VC, KCB, KCMG, DSO (25 July 1871 – 19 June 1961) was a Canadian Army officer during the Boer War and the First World War, and a recipient of the Victoria Cross (for personal bravery in the Boer War).

Went before Medical Board and signed my discharge papers to Canada E179.

In afternoon to see Mr. Hird of Egham & family. Stayed till 10.30 pm.

He has been called up at age of 48.
