Mrs Graham goes to meet Mrs & Charles Graham @ Grand Trunk Pacific Wharf 6:30 pm
Mrs F Graham stays in Vancouver at the Hotel Strathcona
British Cruiser “Undaunted” sinks 4 German Destroyers off Dutch Coast.
Left Lynn Valley for Vancouver at 4 pm. After calling for Mrs Graham at Haswell’s Mrs Graham gets a telegram from Charles & Mrs F Graham saying they will arrive on “Prince George” at Vancouver 6:30 pm. Mrs Graham, Charles Theobald & self go to the theatre 5 pm till 6:15 pm. Home at 8:30 pm.
*The Battle of Texel – A British Light Cruiser, the HMS Undaunted and 4 destroyers encountered a flotilla of 4 German Torpedo boats off the Dutch Island of Texel. The German ships were on their way to mine British shipping lanes. The British squadron was able to destroy the entire German Flotilla, and took very little damage in the process.

Working all day at Keith Road School
I quit the work there for good.

Stayed 9:30 pm. Mr Callow there also.
Get reply from Militia at Ottawa but no satisfaction to me
Tuesday 13 October 1914 – cloudy & later fine
Build foundation for addition to 1st House.
Working till 4:30 pm.
To Reverend N.J. Thompson’s residence in evening & stayed till 11:30 pm.
Got to know important news. I give cut flowers to Mrs Thompson and Esdaile
Monday 12 October 1914 – raining
Raining all day so stayed indoors
Germans used 200 siege guns on Antwerp
Left for home at 7:30 & arrive 9:30 pm
Sunday 11 October 1914 – fine & cold
Up at 10 am
Stayed indoors all day practically, except for an occasional walk.
Germans take the town of Antwerp
*The Siege of Antwerp – After the Germans invaded Belgium, Belgian troops moved to the city of Antwerp which was defended by a series of forts around the city. Germans began bombarding the fortifications with artillery on September 28th, 1914 and eventually beat the Belgian troops into submission by October 10th 1914.

To Vancouver then to Burnaby to visit the Wagstaffes, arrive at 9:45 pm.
