Major Grey PPCLI visits the BDE office.
Have a devilish attack of neuralgia.
We (the office staff) secure a room for cooking purposes at 15 Rue De Mandelette, Steenvoorde.
Neuralgia – Pain in a distribution of a nerve or multiple nerves. This could involve anything from a head ache to ear aches or neck pain.

Nothing unusual.
Lots of work in office map drawing and taking stock.
Russians make their total captures up to 106,000 & all Austrians.
Wilson goes on pass to England. Our positions at Observatory Ridge have been taken back by 13 & 58th Battns.

Working hard on sketches & in making a check of map & sketches. Bde S. Major Macneill goes on pass to England.

Have a tour round the country.

Up at 5:50 am, all the brigade is standing to arms.
Still under the doctor and very weak.
Tuesday 6 June 1916 – showery
Lord Kitchener is drowned on board HMS Hampshire. Casts gloom over troops. Had relapse from overstrain & injuries. All the brigade is standing to arms.
*Death of Lord Kitchener- On June 5th 1916 Lord Kitchener, then Secretary of State for War was on the armoured Cruiser HMS Hampshire for a diplomatic mission to Russia. The ship struck a mine laid by a German submarine and 643 out of a crew of 655 died, including Lord Kitchener.
