Capt. Carr PPCLI gets urgent notice & railway transportation for west Sandling to be attached to a mapping school there. I write Capt. MacDonald with a view to obtaining a new position. Answers referring me to 5th Div. Later, thro’ his medium I go too.

Monday 3 September 1917

Leave Stafford on 10.19 am train for Nuneaton. Waited @ Nun. 1-1/2 hours (1:15pm) Take 1:15 pm for Leicester.  Arr. Leic. 2.30 pm.  Visit Aunt & the girls.  Leave on G.C.R. @ 4.49 for London (Marylebone) . Arr. 7.15 (late) take tube to Victoria (change Charing +) takes 20 minutes to Cross.  Get the 8.35 pm for Brighton (1 pm Sundays).  Arr. Brighton 9.50.  Leave B. @ 10 pm & arr Seaford 11.30 pm.

Norman and I go to Draycott and Cheadle on bike. Have meals @ Draycott Arms (Mr. & Mrs. Brindley).

To Coneydale Farm & Croxden Abbey where I get puncture. Started 8.20 am & arr home 7.30 pm  Very tired.

Met the Draycots of Coneydale where we had dinner.

I receive letter from Capt. Chutter of 14 C.I.B. offering me job on his Brigade as draughtsman.
