Leave Stafford on 10.19 am train for Nuneaton. Waited @ Nun. 1-1/2 hours (1:15pm) Take 1:15 pm for Leicester. Arr. Leic. 2.30 pm. Visit Aunt & the girls. Leave on G.C.R. @ 4.49 for London (Marylebone) . Arr. 7.15 (late) take tube to Victoria (change Charing +) takes 20 minutes to Cross. Get the 8.35 pm for Brighton (1 pm Sundays). Arr. Brighton 9.50. Leave B. @ 10 pm & arr Seaford 11.30 pm.

To Stafford @ 9.45 train arr. @ 1.15 pm & went to Leightons. To Brine Baths with Norman (& catch cold). Meet Mrs. & Allan Smith.
Sunday 5 March 1916 – frost
Frost. Up at 9 am for a walk along river. Send telegram to Leicester. Leave Stafford at 2 PM for Leicester. Tony, Betty and Eileen see me off. Arr. Leicester at 4:30 go to aunts & stay night. Visit Miss Kidd & John Draycot. A zeppelin raid is taking place at 7 PM. All lights are put out but nothing happens.
German Airship Raids – On the evening of the March 5th into the morning of the 6th Germans sent 3 Zeppelins to bomb Rosyth, however high winds forced them instead to bomb Hull. The attack resulted in 18 deaths and 52 injuries with £25,000 worth of damage.
Saturday 4 March 1916 – fine
To Stoke on 1:18 train. Weather fine in morning. had fine interesting chat with Tony (Mr [N or W Hulme?]). Arr. Stoke 2 PM. Went to see Thomas I. Draycot. Back to Stafford 5 PM. To Betty’s for tea & after to doctors for medicine. At 8 PM to Betty’s for supper with Tony. Tony leaves for doctor at 10. Betty & I have interesting chat …. To bed at 11 PM at Mrs. Webbs Pvt. Boarding house where Tony stays.
Friday 25 February 1916
Stayed at Cyril & Ede’s all night. Snowed all last night & during morning 6 inches deep. Went into Stafford with C & E & had dinner at restaurant. On to Banks. Mrs. Banks ill, William goes to York tomorrow for hospital work at Quaker Ambulance Society. Leave by 3:17 from Stafford & arr. Liverpool 4:59. Take train to Tim Brook. Call on [?], Craigs and Uptons. Have supper with the latter & later on to Harry’s. Harry not at home. To bed at 11:30 PM.
Thursday 24 February 1916
33 years of age today. Left Derby after calling on Harry Draycot & uncle Tom Mackay at 11 AM. Arr. Stafford 12:45 PM. To doctors Miller & Allan. Had dinner with doctors & Mrs, had bath & afterwards to Mrs Smiths residence with her, stayed till 5 PM then to Stafford stn. [Cyril?], Betty & Eileen had tea at refreshment bar & boarded train for Gnosall Heath. Arr. 9 PM. Two girls conducted me to Ede’s & Cyril’s. Snow 4 inches deep.

Saturday 26 June 1915 – rain at night
To William Salt Library in morning till 2 pm. Receive letter from Head Quarter Station to come back at once.
Left Stafford at 6:30 pm for Leicester after saying goodbye to Doctor Millar and Nurse Beatrice Smith.
Arrive at Leicester at 8:30 pm.
Stayed overnight at Aunt Louise’s. All the girls are home. Daisy, Elsie, Mandy.

Writing letters.
Had long sleep in afternoon.
Cyril goes to Sileby to see the girls. Edith and I walk around Stafford and then to Rly. Station to meet Cyril.
Thursday 24 June 1915 – cloudy
Left Seagrave for Stafford on bicycle at 10 am and arrived at Stafford at 3:45 pm. 55 miles journey and very hilly.
To Dr Millars at 6 pm and had chat with Nurse Smith. At 8:30 pm to Mrs. Smith’s house and stayed til 3 am. Chatting all the time.
(Doctor Millar recommends me for one months’ leave).
