Went for walk to Beach at Sandgate near Shorncliffe at 9 am. Medical Doctor examines me for a Medical Board. At 2 pm for a stroll to Canadian Hospital at Mr Brockman’s Estate.
Friday 16th April 1915 – fine
Packing up ready to go to Shorncliffe to rejoin my regiment. I leave Portsmouth Harbour at 12:05 noon. Arrive at Waterloo at 2:25. Left [G.E. and C. Ry] at 3:30 and arrive at Shorncliffe at 4:50. Walked two miles to Barracks. Had no sleep at night. Lots of talk and a fight. Sent postcards to Ernest.
Tuesday 6 April 1915 – showery
Received letter from Shorncliffe purporting “Need a Military Officer’s Certificate and not a civil practitioner”.
Left Stafford at 1:47 for Leicester. Changed at Nuneaton. Arrived Leicester at 4 pm. To Aunt Louise’s and had tea then on to Military Base Hospital for Extension of Leave. Have to go tomorrow at 10:30 am. Leave Leicester for Sileby. At 7:54 pm arrive
(Good Friday) Friday 2 April 1915 – fair then rain
Writing letters in morning to Paymaster Princess Patricia’s Canadian Light Infantry at St Martin’s Plain (our new Depot) Shorncliffe and one to Oxford Hospital regarding relieving Railway tour.
To a cantata held at Baptist Church in evening.
